Patching EMIS LV Sites to Use Supplier ID and Multi-instance Warning

This page is only relevant to LV sites (including those with multiple practice support). If your site is NOT LV, and particularly if your site has been converted to Web, do not use the facilities on this page. Please read the whole page before commencing.

Why do I need to run this patch?
EMIS have modified the way LabelTrace needs to communicate with the LV system. If this patch is not run, LabelTrace will not be able to get data from LV when the old mechanism is disabled. In addition, EMIS wish LabelTrace to provide a warning on launching of more than one instance of LV is running. Also, support has been added for Custom Registration Fields so as to be able to use e.g. mobile phone number.

Do I need to run this on every PC?
No - only on any ONE LabelTrace workstation. (but see below!).

Will I see any difference?
No - you will not see any visible difference in operation after this patch has been carried out EXCEPT that a warning will now be displayed if you have more than one instance of LV running when you launch LabelTrace.

What do I need to do?
Click on this link "Patch for EMIS script V1.41"

Choose the option to RUN or OPEN. After a few seconds, you will see the patch program description "Upgrade Emis extension to V1.41"

Click on the "Next" button to complete the patch then click on the "Close" button to close.

What if LabelTrace won't launch on one of my workstations after this patch?
It is possible the workstation has an out of date linking file from EMIS (called EM_PACC.DLL). To update this, LOG ON WITH ADMIN RIGHTS and make sure that LabelTrace and any other applications which interface to LV are closed, Run the patch "Patch for EM_PACC.DLL"

Choose the option to RUN or OPEN. After a few seconds, you will see the patch program description "This patch will copy em_pacc.dll (2011.8.3.3) to the LabelTrace folder and register it."

Click on the "Next" button to complete the patch then click on the "Finished" button to close.

It is possible on some sites with interim upgrades of LabelTrace that a library file patch may be required. If after running the patches above you still have a problem, click on this link "Patch for Script Library to V1.21"

What if I still have a problem?
Contact your normal LabelTrace support provider immediately - NOT EMIS.
